Karl Amundson is a composer/lyricist and performer based in NYC. Karl wrote music/lyrics for the in-development musicals FALLING FORWARD (O'Neill NMTC Finalist, NAMT Semi-Finalist, NYMF Selection), and THE BLIND LEMON (Eugene O’Neill NMTC Semi-Finalist).

 

Together with co-creator Tom Meglio, Karl writes and performs the musical-comedy-extravaganza, "ZE FOLLIES DORÉE!" Ze Follies has performed to sold-out crowds at The Slipper Room, UCB, Caveat, Brooklyn Comedy Collective (Mainstage Residency, 2024, and most recently, a sold-out Off Broadway run at the AMT Theater (ZE FOLLIES DORÉE: ON (off) BROADWAY!)  Follow @zefolliesdoree on Instagram or visit. www.zefolliesdoree.com for updates and future performances.

For his song “Purple Chucks,” Karl was named a Finalist for Taylor Louderman’s Write Out Loud song competition.

Karl also worked as a music supervisor and arranger on the musical Pitch In!, written by Taylor Louderman, Hannah Kloepfer, and Nat Zegree.

Karl is a co-founder and songwriter for The Stuppets, who perform regularly at PJ Adzima’s monthly STAGE TIME at The Slipper Room. Additionally, The Stuppets have been seen live at 54 Below and Asylum NYC. The Stuppets have garnered 25 Million+ Views and 70k+ followers on Social Media platforms (@stuppetsnyc).

 

As a commercial writer, Karl’s music has been commissioned by Proctor & Gamble, Kellogg’s, Morgan & Morgan Injury Law Firm, Knockout Shorts, and The Ladies Who Brunch podcast.​

Karl is a graduate of The University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (CCM), where he received his BFA in Musical Theatre, and he is a professional voice instructor pursuing accreditation through the Institute of Vocal Advancement (IVA). Karl works as an Associate Teacher with EKM Vocal Studio.

As an actor, Karl has been seen on CBS' East New York, at The Muny, The Guthrie, The Brooklyn Center for Theater Research, The Children's Theatre Company of Minneapolis, and Santa Rosa Summer Repertory Theatre. Karl is a proud member of AEA.
