ABOUT KARL

Karl Amundson is a writer/composer, performer and educator based out of New York City. He is a graduate of The University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (CCM), where he received his BFA in Musical Theatre, and he is pursuing voice instructor certification through the Institute of Vocal Advancement. 

 

As a composer, Karl's works in development include the new musicals Falling Forward (selected for the 2020 New York Musical Festival, featured in 54 Below’s 2020 NYMF Finalist Concert) and Lenora DuPonte: Live On Mars! (Invited to perform at the The Tank’s 2022 TrashFest). Karl’s song, “Purple Chucks” was selected as a Finalist in Taylor Louderman’s 2020 Write Out Loud songwriting competition, and was featured in the 2021 Write Out Concert at 54 Below. Karl has worked as a music director and theatre-arts educator at New London Barn Playhouse in New London, NH, where he wrote Myths and Magic, a 30-minute children’s musical performed in NLB Education’s 2019 Summer Intensive Program. As a jingle writer, Karl’s music has been purchased by Morgan & Morgan Injury Law Firm, and the Overeager! Podcast. 

As an actor, Karl has been seen at The Muny, The Guthrie, The Children's Theatre Company of Minneapolis, and Santa Rosa Summer Repertory Theatre. Karl is a proud member of AEA.
